National Americana Month
Happy September folks! Did you know September is National Americana Month? Neither did I. So I set out to research and see what this is all about. What I discovered is that, in a nutshell, it is a celebration of anything and everything that makes us quintessentially American! Think baseball and apple pie; it is a concerted effort to celebrate our history, culture, art and folklore.
While we celebrate the birth of our country on the 4th of July, and the great sacrifices of our military men and women on Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, National Americana Month encompasses all that which makes a Wall Street Financier just as American as a Vermont Dairy Farmer.
On a personal note I discovered that there is a strong movement in my home state of Tennessee to celebrate this cause, which kicks off with the Great Americana BBQ Festival in Franklin, TN on August 26th. (from National Day Calendar) While a number of celebrations occur in the Franklin and Nashville, TN areas, there are celebrations big and small that are popping up throughout the United States. I think there is no better time than the present to unite and celebrate the things that are the foundation of this country!
