It's All In The Details
You’ve heard the saying, “It’s all in the details.” It can apply to so many things, but that’s what I think about when I think about design and decorating. We all have our preferences in color and texture and style. Maybe, like me, you lean towards country farmhouse/antique décor. Maybe you consider your style to be shabby chic, or primitive. Maybe you like the clean, crisp lines of a more Scandinavian contemporary look.
Whatever your preference, I say, pay attention to the details. I prefer a hardwood floor, but I like to adorn them with pretty accent rugs. I tend towards solid fabrics for my sofas and chairs, but add some color with throw pillows.
A bare wall, to me, is a vessel for displaying paintings, photographs and other memories and mementos of my life. And a dining room table just begs for a pretty runner and/or a centerpiece of some sort.
If you’re a minimalist, then all these little added pleasures may not be for you, but the details in my house are what make it my home!
