Flowers Make You Feel Better
In this unprecedented time of the Coronavirus Pandemic, I find myself, like many, looking for sources of joy and comfort. As I scroll through Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, it’s almost always photos of spring gardens, Easter bouquets and fresh cut flowers that stop me in my tracks. (That and photos of cute kitties…but that’s another blog!) I won’t speak for everyone, but for me, these happy reminders of new life and full of color, bring a smile to my face every time.
There’s a reason people use flowers at weddings and funerals, and send them as birthday gifts. Flowers just make you feel better. I’m so thrilled that at this time, when I am staying home around the clock, the days are getting longer and little sprouts of hope are starting to appear in my yard. From the earliest of daffodils, hyacinths and tulips, to the promise of peonies and roses, through the heartiest of mums in the fall, April through October in the northeast means flowers in the garden.
And as much as I love to tinker around in my gardens, I love to display fresh flowers inside my home too. And for all you creatives out there, our friends at Happy DIY Home have come up with this wonderful DIY project for making a Cheerful Spring Floral Vase.
I wish you all health and safety in these trying times, and like many of us, I hope to return to some semblance of normalcy in the near future. In the meantime, use flowers to brighten up your day, or bring joy to someone you love!
