Trending: Farmhouse Chic

Whether you own a rambling old farmhouse that you’ve spent years renovating (like I do) or you are searching for a new build in the farmhouse style, the look is classic and timeless.

I’m not exactly sure why it’s so sought after, I can’t even give you specifics as to why I’ve always been drawn to a farmhouse look. Maybe it hearkens back to a simpler time when farms dotted the country from shore to shore. Although American farms are few and far between these days, there is still a nostalgia that can be seen in gift shops, antique stores and entrepreneurs selling farmhouse décor, furniture and signs made from repurposed barn boards.

If you’re looking to decorate your dream farmhouse, it’s not difficult. As a matter of fact, often you want to go minimal on the items you display. Kind of a “less is more” approach. The other great thing about this look is that much of it can be recycled. Maybe your parents are downsizing and have some old furniture to get rid of. Hit up yard sales and antique stores. And most definitely, look for DIY ideas online. Sometimes a little sanding and a fresh coat of paint can make what was old, new again!
